Reflections of Japan

Reflections of Japan explores the relationship between architecture, light and perception through the lens of Japanese design aesthetics. Inspired by the reflective surfaces of contemporary Japanese cities, the works transform familiar buildings into layered compositions of geometry, shadow and colour. Reflections fragment and distort architectural forms, creating moments of ambiguity between reality and illusion. Guided by the principles of Ma (negative space), Kanso (simplicity) and Yūgen (suggestion and mystery), these paintings seek to reveal beauty within ordinary urban encounters. By reducing architecture to its essential forms, the series encourages quiet observation and contemplation, inviting viewers to experience the city as a place of stillness rather than distraction.
