Kanso

Named after the Japanese aesthetic principle of simplicity, Kanso represents a search for visual clarity and essential form. Inspired by Japanese architecture, design and Zen philosophy, the works reduce complex structures to carefully balanced arrangements of line, shape and colour. The collection draws upon Kanso (simplicity), Fukinsei (asymmetry and irregularity) and Shibui (subtle elegance), embracing the belief that beauty often emerges through restraint rather than excess. Empty spaces are treated with equal importance to painted forms, reflecting the Zen understanding that absence can be as meaningful as presence. Through minimal interventions, the works seek to create moments of calm within an increasingly complex world.
